In October 2021 we were approached by BIIIG Academy to quote for 2 kitchen extraction systems, 1 would be for the Community Café and the other for the Education & Training Kitchen. This kitchen extraction installation required a unique solution to be installed into the building.
After communicating with the client about their objectives and budgets, we had to redesign the ventilation system to be able to straddle the dwarf wall that was separating the café and the kitchen. This redesign meant that a reduced amount of metal was needed for the canopy and allowed for the extraction motor to be smaller than usual. These changes allowed us to achieve the clients’ expectations with objectives and budgets.
BIIIG ACADEMY
BIIIG Academy is currently being renovated to create a place of opportunity and aspiration for teenagers in the local area. The Academy will run NVQ training courses for 20 young people who are currently not in education, employment, or training. Founder, Anton Brown has described BIIIG Academy as being an ‘Ark’ for the community which will have the potential to transform young lives.
The building is divided into two parts – one side focusing on the NVQ training courses including a professional kitchen and the other a development firm, providing employment for newly-qualified people.
